About AIC - CCRI - CED 

The Coffee Board of India in its continuous endeavor to encourage entrepreneurship in the coffee sector has taken one more step forward by establishing an Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) by enabling the collaboration between Central Coffee Research Institute (CCRI) and Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). The incubation centre is called the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development. 

The Coffee Board of India wishes to not only create opportunities for entrepreneurs and employment opportunities but also provide a platform to address the critical challenges faced by the Coffee Sector through this Centre. The Centre has been envisioned to house and incubate entrepreneurs from all aspects of Coffee Value chain and also from the coffee eco system. There is a systemic need to address the challenges of the Coffee Sector such as Climate Change, increasing cost of production, slow pace of mechanization, pest & disease infestations (especially in Arabica), lack of domestic market development, slow pace in value addition of coffee, etc. 

The coffee grower will remain central to the entrepreneurial development by AIC – CCRI – CED. The innovations and entrepreneurial ventures that will be supported by AIC CCRI CED will focus on the challenges faced by different stakeholders in the value chain. 

Mission of AIC CCRI:

  1. To create an entrepreneur friendly eco-system for encouraging business innovations in coffee sector.
  2. To successfully incubate & graduate a minimum of 100 coffee-based startups in the next 5 years.   
  3. To create an innovative and rewarding startup eco-system in the Coffee value chain to create young entrepreneurs & employment opportunities for the youth.
  4. To address the coffee production related problems through all possible innovations using the entrepreneurial route and contribute to the increase in production of high-quality coffee in India.
  5. To address the coffee processing related lacunae through the entrepreneurial route and improve the quality of processing of coffee in India.
  6. To contribute to the increase in consumption of Indian coffee & value-added products in the domestic & international markets including in all major overseas destinations (coffee consuming nations) through the entrepreneurial route.
  7. To create value addition & market for all agricultural/ forestry/ horticultural/ animal husbandry products in the Coffee Plantation Eco –system through the entrepreneurial route.
